8 Video Editing Software Youtubers Use in 2025

Creator Tips

To be a great viral content creator on YouTube in 2025, you need two things: a good camera and an excellent video editing software.

‍

As a vlogger myself with an active YouTube channel, I understand the importance of having the right editing software. In fact, having the right editing software can sometimes be way more important than having the right camera.

‍

The reason is simple; while the right editing software can make your editing faster and more efficient, the right camera won’t. 👀

‍

This then begs the question: what video editing software do popular YouTubers use? I have always been curious to find out for myself, and so I decided to do some digging. I found them!

‍

In this post, I will unravel the video editing software YouTube creators like Ali Abdaal, Logan Paul, Grant Cardone, etc., use. So stay tuned! 🧡

‍

What Video Editor Do Youtubers Use?

So, what tool do YouTubers use? You know what, let me rephrase it: what popular software do most YouTubers use for their editing?

‍

The answer largely depends on their popularity, skills, and, of course, budget. From my research, I found out that many big names in the YouTube space use advanced editing tools like Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro. They have the skills and the budget. 🚀

‍

Intermediate creators, on the other hand, use several other editing tools, from Submagic to Opus Clip to Capcut and many more. Not to worry, I will be reviewing these tools in a bit.

‍

How to Choose YouTube Video Editing Software

Choosing the right software that meets your YouTube editing needs can be a bit challenging, especially if you are just starting out. To make things less complicated, keep these three variables in mind when looking to pick a software.

‍

Features: What particular features are you looking for in editing software? Color grading, animated text captioning, or loads of animation and transitions? Knowing this will help you make the right choice. ⚡

‍

Budget: Video editing tools are hardly ever free. The best you can get is a free trial or version, which are often super limited. So have a budget in mind when scouting for editing software.

‍

Ease of Use and Compatibility: Unless you are an editing pro with a decade of experience, ease of use and compatibility should also be at the top of your priority list when picking software. 🧡

8 Best Video Editing Software Youtubers Use (Free & Paid)

Let’s dive right into the main gist of this post: 8 awesome editing software popular YouTubers use.

‍

Adobe Premiere Pro

👉 Used by: MrBeast

‍

If you are a fan of Mr. Beast and have been steadily consuming his content, you might have noticed that he uses Adobe Premiere Pro for his text editing.

‍

It’s easy to notice this because his videos always have the right color balance. Color balancing is one of the major strengths of Adobe Premiere Pro.

‍

Furthermore, Adobe Premiere Pro is reputed for producing high-quality resolution videos, which you will notice on Mr Beast’s YouTube Channel.

Key Features

  • Color correction/Color Grading
  • Voice enhancement
  • Audio Track Mixer
  • Automatic Tone Mapping
  • AI Audio Tagging

Pricing

24.71/month. But if you are willing to pay $32.24/month, you’ll get all the other apps Adobe offers.

‍

Riverside

riverside

👉 Used by: Marvel

‍

I am a huge fan of Marvel - I have been one forever. So, one faithful day, it dawned on me that I had never really figured out what editing tool Marvel uses to stitch together their footage. I mean, isn’t that a natural curiosity I should have as a video editor?

‍

After some Googling, I found out that Riverside is one of the many editing tools they use.

‍

Why would a media giant like Marvel want to use Riverside for their editing? For starters, Riverside allows you to record high-resolution videos collaboratively with your team, thanks to its cloud storage capabilities.

Features

  • Teleprompter
  • AI-powered editing
  • Automatic captioning
  • Audio enhancement

Pricing

Riverside comes with a free version. The paid plans (Standard and Pro) go for $15 and $24 per month respectively.

Opus Clip

opus clip

👉 Used by: The ArmChair Historian

‍

If you are a lover of history and love to relieve key historical moments via animations, there’s a good chance you’ve stumbled upon The Armchair Historian YouTube Channel. Their knack for storytelling is simply awesome, and their YouTube videos are always a hit.

But have you ever wondered what editing tool the team uses to piece their clips together to form a fully developed film? It happens they use Opus Clips.

My best guess is that they chose Opus Clips because it allows them to export videos to Adobe Premiere Pro or Davinci Resolve without hitches.

Features

  • AI B-rolls
  • Filler and silence remover
  • Auto reframing
  • Team collaboration

Pricing

Opus has a free plan. Of course, there is so much you can do with it. The paid plans go for $14.5 and $15 per month.

Davinci Resolve

👉 Used by: Marques Brownlee

‍

Marques Brownlee is my all-time favorite geek YouTuber, and for a good reason: his talents for narration and storytelling are impressive.  Plus, the quality of his videos is simply off the charts.

This isn’t surprising because he uses Davinci Resolve for his editing, hence why his videos are near pixel-perfect. So what’s the deal with Davinci Resolve and why should you care?

To begin with, it has advanced color correction capabilities. Secondly, it makes it easy to infuse motion graphics into your video edits without complications.

Key Features

  • Fairlights for audio post-production
  • AI editing
  • Photo retouching and repair
  • Cloud collaboration for teams

Pricing

You can start using Davinci Resolve for free. The paid version goes for a one-off fee of $300 (excluding tax).

Final Cut Pro

👉 Used by: LoganPaul

‍

Logan Paul is one of the few people who have consistently topped Forbe’s List of highest-earning YouTubers. With over 23 million subscribers and his videos getting an average of 5 million views, Logan Paul is definitely a force to reckon with.

But what software does this YouTube maverick use for his editing? It’s Final Cut Pro, as it turns out. Why would he use Final Cut Pro instead of Adobe Premiere Pro or Davinci Resolve? Well, if nothing else, Final Cut Pro is popular for its magnetic, trackless timeline.

Other key features are as follows:

Key Features

  • Mac-based. Meaning it runs on the Mac OS, as well as other Apple OS.
  • Supports special motion and cinematic effects
  • Automatic HDR workflows
  • Robust third-party integrations

Pricing

You can try Final Cut Pro for free. But like Davinci Resolve, you can purchase it for a one-time fee of $299.

CapCut

👉 Used by: JoeyEdits

‍

When I started learning video editing features like zoom in on with CapCut, I would always visit the Joey Edits tutorial channel on YouTube. He has a cunning way of making rather complex edits in CapCut easy to learn.

Essentially, he’s an expert at CapCut - and he’s also an expert at teaching it. I’d suggest you also check out his channel if you are keen on mastering CapCut.

Key Features

  • Truckload of effects, transitions, and animations
  • Animated captioning
  • Team collaboration
  • Loads of B-rolls

Pricing

CapCut is free to use for YouTubers.

Filmora

👉 Used by: iHasCupquake

‍

And so we wrap things up Filmora, and the spotlight will be on Tiffany Garcia, aka iHasCupquake. Filmora comes with lots of predesigned themes, hence why the likes of Tiffany use it for their editing.

On top of that, it has so many effects and renders videos pretty fast.

Key Features

  • AI-powered editing
  • AI background music generator
  • Loads of royalty-free stock media
  • Vocal remover, text-to-speech

Pricing

Filmora goes for $49.99/year.

‍

Conclusion

So there you have it; 8 awesome video editing software big-time YouTubers use to knock out the content they post.

Which should you choose? At the risk of sounding biased, I’d say go for Submagic. With Submagic, you can create edits in Alex Hormozi or Ali Abdaal style with just a click of a button. And it’s super pocket-friendly
